Wall Drug is a tourist mecca, there are more things to see and buy than should rightfully be found in that corner of South Dakota. Its whole claim to fame is an amazing marketing effort revolving around ice water and the local state of thirst.

This was one of hundreds of items we saw that day. I could not find an SD slot.

Each time I go visit the Crazy Horse Memorial I try to get a little closer to the detail. This time out we took a bus tour to the base. Every year a little more detail shows up.

Yes you, yes for real. When 2k pounds of bison gives you the stare down being inside a car is a good thing.

This is one of a number of photos taken in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We found three herd of bison that day, one of which took about 20 mins to walk around our van. I got some good shots of the youngins and the elders

This is Pearl Wilson. Every years for many many a moon it has been on her farm that the generations and neighbors gather on the 4th. How is it a kid from the Bronx made his way here?

Maybe for another post I will recount the begatings

4th Of July(theres a hard rain gonna fall)

"Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what did you see, my darling young one?
I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it
I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it,
I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin',
I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin',
I saw a white ladder all covered with water,
I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken,
I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children,
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard,
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall." Bob Dylan

A quick note here....our trip to South Dakota is turning out to be a dash to the farm, Aside from the big bash at the Wilson Farm on the 4th Dawn's grandma is not doing so well; thus not much in the way of photo shoots and AWWWW Aint They So Cute events. That will be for the way back.

For now I will post up what might be fun to read, a rant or two and...oh yeah...The WSMF Road Cooking Show....yep...we got some good old road cooking gear and the divx of Alton Brown's Dinning On Asphalt..good times good times.

(pictured here is the rig, a Ford Excursion disel and the newly aquired 24 foot Terry Trailer Light...both vintage 2000...we like buying used:)- )

The AC or as I like to call it The Money Shot

When traveling across a section of the USA that dips into what I like to term the Third World In The Middle it has been my experience to pack those things that will make living good....medical supplies, Portland OR's finest microbrew (Hair of the Dog's Fred On Wood) and a 24 foot trailer with AC.Decedent? In the land of swelter and swarming mosquitoes I would say its an essential. Campsites with free wifi ranks up there as well.
